Vickers' 2010 debut single, "Once", charted at number one on the UK Singles Chart and her debut album, Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree, achieved number one status on the UK Albums Chart.

Her follow-up singles, "The Boy Who Murdered Love" and "My Wicked Heart", reached the top 40 and top 20 respectively.

It was granted its city charter in 1897 as part of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Nottingham's main campus (University Park) and teaching hospital (Queen's Medical Centre) are on the outskirts of the City of Nottingham, with a number of smaller campuses and sites elsewhere in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Outside the United Kingdom, the university has campuses in Semenyih, Malaysia and Ningbo, China.

Vickers' live show performances attracted both praise and criticism; judge Simon Cowell likened her to Marmite, saying fans would either love or hate her unusual singing style, stating that he "loved it".

On her first live show, Vickers sang U2's "With or Without You" and Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror", for which she received praise from Dannii Minogue, describing it as "box fresh", with Simon Cowell remarking she was "the one to beat".

The National Ice Centre, Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre, and Trent Bridge international cricket ground are all based in or around the city, which is also the home of two professional league football teams; the world's oldest professional league club Notts County, and Nottingham Forest, famously two-time winners of the UEFA European Cup under Brian Clough in 19.

The city also has professional rugby, ice hockey and cricket teams, and the Aegon Nottingham Open, an international tennis tournament on the ATP and WTA tours.

How surprising, then, to find that in Nottingham, an eight-year-old boy has been made to wear a high-visibility yellow jacket, after apparently stuffing leaves down someone’s neck.

“I know other people are looking at me,” the boy says, like another Copperfield.

The University of Nottingham is a public research university in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom.
