Windows update keeps updating same files dating near 85375
What I have: Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 64bit, no additional software installed since I could never get past the update issue.
The events tab in device manager shows a list stating 'device installed' over and over.
The information for the most recent event is as follows: Driver Management concluded the process to install driver g13plmwa.inf_amd64_007bf12cd0f50a21\g13for Device Instance ID HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5115&SUBSYS_17AAC041&REV_1001\4&2426718C&0&0001 with the following status: 0x0.
What I found from the network trace was that the HEAD request from BITS is incorrectly using the Net BIOS hostname, despite the Automatic Updates client and server both correctly using (or at least logging) the FQDN.
Because of point 4 from my list, this was (correctly) resulting in a HTTP 404 error on the download as the host header obviously wasn't matching.
