I wanted to know your worst online dating tales, and you had some doozies.
As I read through them (and apologies that I could not fit them all into one column), the immortal words of Richard Brautigan came to mind -- the coda to a story about a woman who wreaked romantic havoc in the lives of many of his friends.
I told her goodnight and she asked if I was going to invite her back to my place. She started bawling in the middle of the parking lot like I had just broke up with her after five years. First date with a guy and he brought along his best friend. I went on a date with a girl who slowly started revealing that she still lived with her ex but he was a totally “chill” guy and wouldn’t be jealous if I came back with her. I met a woman who, after 15 minutes of small talk over drinks, told me that she was married and that her husband had a very low sperm count.
When I came back from the bathroom, he had the waiter take my food away.
But the other one has no idea that I slept with the other one, they just think I slept with their mum after sleeping with them. I met this chick from Tinder who came to watch Netflix. Snuggling on the couch she starts to freak out, foetal position, shaking uncontrollably. He didn’t even get the part, he was bragging about going to an audition. I had a guy have me come over for our second date as it was the summer and he wanted to cook me dinner on the grill. He pours me a glass of wine and says he’s going inside to change, which I though was weird.
At the end of the date, he leaned in to kiss me, so I turned my head and he LICKED my entire cheek. He just went on and on bragging about being considered for a part on the Walking Dead. I was talking to a guy for two minutes on Ok Cupid and he wanted to be exclusive… He then called me a whore for still having a profile 5 minutes later.
I think the longest time I spent speaking to a woman online before actually meeting her was a few months and the shortest time was like a few hours.
I would highly recommend NOT doing what I did haha.
I’m not sure exactly how many dates I had gotten from the internet but it was a LOT.
another mid-level munter“ I thought to myself as I met up with another girl I met from the internet.
So, what do you do before you decide to meet someone? ” Make sure their answers line up and there are no red flags. You likely don’t have time for multiple dates a week or the emotional energy to be messaging 10 people a day. Remember, you are a unique person who deserves someone who is a good fit. Now, online dating is an awesome way to meet people you would normally never encounter!
Ask them questions: “What are you hoping to get out of this dating site? If you want to meet them, ask to meet in a public location. That guy who isn’t wearing a shirt and clearly wants to take you back to his place? I met my first two boyfriends online, as well as the guy I’m currently dating.
In my mind, the worst possible thing that could happen is I go on a date with an axe murderer—unlikely, but not impossible. These principles will keep your online dating fears at bay and help you have a safe experience, while staying out of harm’s way.
